Tofino’s Water Challenge
Despite getting more than 3 metres of rain annually, Tofino’s drier summer weather, influx of visitors and limited water storage facilities, put a significant strain on daily water availability during the summer months. Management, conservation and education are key to ensuring an adequate supply of pure water.

The Planet’s Water Challenge
Fresh water is the liquid of life. Without it the planet would be a barren wasteland. The supply of water is finite, but demand is rising rapidly as population grows and as water use per capita increases.[1]
According to experts, the world is in danger of running out of “sustainably managed water” and it is expected that two-thirds of the planet will live in water-stressed conditions by 2025 if present consumption patterns continue.
