Every drop of water counts

We invite our visitors

“We're inviting visitors who come to Tofino to join residents in conserving our pure, fresh water. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. People really understand the need for conservation and want to do whatever they can to help.

Water Conservation & Education in Tofino, BC, Canada

We invite you to take immediate action toward water conservation by observing these few simple practices that have made a huge difference to our ability to conserve water, particularly in the summer months of less precipitation:

  • Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth
  • Take a shower instead of a bath
  • Take a shorter shower
  • Flush the toilet only when necessary
  • Make sure taps are fully off
  • Use your bath towel more than once

Welcome to Tourism Tofino’s water conservation and education website. We hope you will join us in our effort to conserve the pure, fresh water that is one of Tofino’s greatest natural resources.

This site seeks to inform and educate our area’s residents and visitors about why water conservation is so important. We hope you will return to this site often to learn, participate and celebrate water conversation for the sake of our planet.

'Every day, most of us turn on the tap and take it for granted that an endless supply of clean, safe drinking water will flow out. Yet Canada’s freshwater resources aren’t nearly as abundant as you’d think. In fact, our belief in unlimited water is a dangerous myth.'
